Nerd party and pre-Thanksgiving feast

  • What's up homies? I'm back from my weekend. I had a lot of fun. Friday evening I met Sandi in Stockton and we went to a "Nerd Party" being held by her church group. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to be bored or not, but it turned out to be pretty fun. I really didn't know anyone there but Sandi, but everyone was friendly and made me feel right at home. Sandi won first prize for her nerdy outfit and I even flirted with a guy or two. Haha.
  • Saturday I worked at KDFC, then headed on over to Lodi to have yet another 80stastic weekend with Kimmie and her niece Joyce. First thing we did when I arrived was go on a field trip for dinner at Rick's Pizza. It was yummy, and yes I did have a mongoloid size side salad as well. Gotta get my veggies in when I can. Afterward we went to Baskin-Robbins, I had a scoop of chocolate fudge. Man it was good. Last stop on our adventure was Starbucks, I had a skinny vanilla latte. Once we got back home we watched a few episodes of Kids Incorporated from the first season. That show is so cheesy, but it's great. Then we all decided to do each other's hair/makeup, and take crazy pictures. Next we put on Hangin Tough Live (NKOTB, in case y'all didn't know) and did some awesome dancing/singing. It was my turn to pick the entertainment after this, so I put in Stay Tuned starring John Ritter and Pam Dawber, that movie where they get sucked into that satellite dish that evil Jeffrey Jones (the Dad from Beetlejuice) sold them. Yeah it was corny but as a child I loved that movie. By this point it was after midnight and I was bushed. Kimmie and Joyce were still wide awake, and put on a Peter Cetera CD. I promptly fell asleep in the middle of "Glory Of Love". Oh well, I was pooped.
  • Sunday morning I actually got to sleep in for 9 hours, and it felt great. After doing some straightening and taking a shower, we had poptarts and coffee for breakfast. Not the most nutritional thing, but oh well. Kimmie and Joyce watched the New Kids' "Step By Step" video and I caught the tail end of it while chowing down. Next Kimmie put on three episodes of the Golden Girls, one of them guest starring Mario Lopez, who was also one of the dancers on Kids Inc (was well as Saved By The Bell, etc). Those old ladies are always funny no matter what. Maybe I'm just too young but I don't know why they got so hot over mediocre looking old dudes. When I'm 60 am I going to be turned on by old geezers? Gross. So after a while we grew tired of the old gals and I threw on Ping! starring Judge Reinhold, Clint Howard and Shirley Jones. It was fairly predictable and more of a family/kid film, but it was cute. Also, Judge played a really dumb robber, so it worked well. Next Kimmie put on the original Freaky Friday starring Jodie Foster, John Astin and the guy who played Jimmy Olsen in the Superman movies. He was the guy Boris who lived across the street. I've loved the film since I was a kid and I still enjoy it. Kimmie bought it for me last year for Christmas, she has great taste. After this movie was over, Joyce put on Harry And The Hendersons. John Lithgow frightens me for some reason. Maybe because he was such a jerk in Footloose, I don't know; maybe his constant luring for Jane Curtin in 3rd Rock From The Sun. Anyway, the movie is cute but he's frightening. Last movie for the evening was Zeus and Roxanne starring Steve Guttenberg and Miko Hughes. Shirtless Mahoney. You can't go wrong. Oh yeah, we still had time to kill so Kimmie threw on a few more episodes of Kids Inc, including one guest starring The Hoff. ROTF.
  • Oh no Kimmie I am not forgetting all the food we made, and the preparation for it all. See since this was my November visit, Kimmie turned into an early Thanksgiving feast. She started cooking a little before noon, and we didn't eat until a little after 5pm. See when you have cerebral palsy and enjoy cooking/baking from scratch, things take A LOT longer. I helped out as much as I could by preparing the green beans (well snapping the ends off), putting in/taking out various things in the oven, and fetching ingredients from various random places in the kitchen. Things got a little intense as we got closer to eating time, but I think Kimmie was a bit stressed out. I hope I helped enough, Kim. I usually cook meals that take 10 minutes or less to prepare, so sorry for my ignorance on serving utensils. :-( I also put all the food away and loaded the dishwasher, do I get brownie points? I still feel like an idiot for not helping more than I did. Oh well.
  • Anyway I did have a great weekend and I'll have more pictures up sometime this evening, I'm hoping. I'm tired, may be time for a power snooze. *yawn*
