I need veg out time

  • Word up y'all. It's Friday morning. I'm exhausted. It's a good form of exhaustion I might add. Worked out pretty hard at the gym earlier tonight, and last night as well. Being tired is a good thing. Seems like my clothes sizes are smaller despite not much activity on the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat, blah blah. Still, I'm technically obese. According to the BMI thing Cathy is almost overweight. Just because I'm built like a football player doesn't mean I'm a wall of jiggling fat. Oh well.
  • My car's still at the body shop. Just found out it'll be there another week. Insurance adjuster finally came out and reinspected my car, so now they're doing the work. *sigh* I like the free rental, but it eats gas. I want my Toyota back. Booo.
  • Also got my dental bill for my recent work I had done last week. It was $2 grand, but work paid 80% of it. I still have to pay $400. I did some calculating online and even if I got dental insurance I'd pay about the same either way. Oy vey.
  • It sucks about the earthquake in Haiti. That place is in ruins, and so many people are dead. I may go with Sandi down to L.A. at the end of the month for a fundraiser thing that the Audio Talks group is doing. Only thing is I don't have a ton of money right now, I've done way too much entertainment lately, and Christmas wiped me out big time. So this trip better be cheap.
  • Anyway, hopefully this weekend will be nice and low key. It would be nice to stay home and relax, not go out and spend more money that I don't have. I have plenty of DVDs to watch, music to download, books to read. Veg out time would be much appreciated.

*yawn*

  • Word up homies. I had a fun weekend, as always. Well Friday kind of sucked but Saturday/Sunday was great. Friday I spent most of my day dragging my dad and older sister around Palo Alto so Dad could get a CT scan and make sure his shunt is okay. It's fine, which is kind of puzzling to us. Anyway, my older sister was way too grumpy. Between her bitchiness and my lack of sleep, we got in a bigass fight in the parking garage there at the hospital. Later on in the afternoon after getting the mirror put back on my car and finally sleeping, I felt great. Then during the evening I made myself dinner and hung out with Cathy.
  • Saturday was a lot better. I got up, showered, packed, ate breakfast, and headed out to Lodi to spend the rest of my weekend with Kimmie. We spent the afternoon shopping at Kmart and Big Lots with Joyce, and also had lunch at Mountain Mike's. Then we had Wienerschnitzel on the way home. So unhealthy. Then after watching Hangin Tough Live for the millionth time, Kim put on The Exorcist II. It made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I put on about five episodes of the Norm show from 2001 that I got on a bootleg DVD. I found them pretty darn funny. We went to bed after that.
  • Sunday we went to the movies to see the new Alvin And The Chipmunks film. Joyce met Kim there, and I picked up our friend Carolyn and her son. It was very cute. Kinda cheesy in parts, but hey it's a kids movie. Afterwards I took Carolyn and her kid home, then the rest of us had lunch at the Feed & Fuel. Kinda pricy. Oh well, there's a dinosaur head hanging from the ceiling, I should've taken a picture. Guess that's worth it. When we got back to Kimmie's place we watched several episodes of Hoarders, then America's Funniest Home Videos and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Dinner was ground turkey tacos. Yumfest!
  • I'm pooped. Can't wait to go home and sleep later on this morning. I have to drop off my car at the body shop to get the rest of the work done, and Enterprise is giving me a rental. I'm not sure how long these repairs will take, I'm thinking a day or two max.

Dental fun, car update, & another trip to Stanford

  • Word up y'all. It's Friday! Really early on a Friday morning, technically. I'm currently eating a carrot (very carefully on the right side of my mouth) and drinking Diet Dr. Pepper. How thrilling. The reason for my carrot eating precaution is because I got two molars drilled, filled and temporarily crowned yesterday morning. Once the Novocaine wore off, that whole side of my mouth was swollen and kinda hurt. Not as much pain as a toothache, but definitely noticeable.
  • Let's see what else is new? Got the estimate for my car's damage, it's almost $3 grand. Luckily the other lady's insurance is covering the whole thing. I'm probably bringing my car into the shop on Monday morning, I need to call the place and confirm about that. They're paying for a rental car too. I know I need to send you some pics, Cindy. I've just been kinda busy this week so I barely have turned on my laptop at all.
  • Dad's shunt is acting up again. I need to take him to Stanford way early this morning to get a CT scan then he has an appt with his neurosurgeon later on. I'm hoping he can just have it adjusted, but if he needs it replaced then we'll do what has to be done. Ugh. If any of y'all want to send prayers his way, it would be much appreciated.
  • That's about it. This weekend I'm planning on hanging out at Kimmie's in Lodi. That is, if my dad doesn't get stuck in the hospital or something. As far as I know I'm going, though. We'll just play it by ear.

Happy New Year!!

  • What's up y'all? I had a very fun four day weekend and New Years celebration. Thursday morning I met Sandi at her place in Stockton, and we drove down from there. I pretty much slept the whole way. Except for stops in Fresno, Bakersfield and Downey to pee. Yes Downey is in L.A. but we were staying in Orange and traffic sucks. We made it down there and went to dinner first at some Mexican place since the wait to check in at Motel 6 was too long. I had great chicken fajitas. After we checked in and I took a shower, we were off to Knotts Berry Farm. I was running on like seven hours of sleep in a two day period, but frankly didn't care. We had a blast. The Newsboys performed twice and it was awesome. The rides were out of this world. I went on the Silver Bullet twice, it's like Top Gun at Great America, only a lot more intense. We ended up buying the DVD of ourselves on the ride, it was that good. Then I went on Supreme Scream, which is pretty much like Drop Zone. Only much higher, and it goes back up. Freakin scary. Sandi's not into drop rides so I went on it myself. Next we rode the Waveswinger, which is basically just riding in a swing, pretending you're Peter Pan or something. So freakin fun to feel like you're flying. Oh yeah, we also went on Ghost Rider, the wooden coaster twice. That one is the gnarliest coaster I've ever experienced, period. For a wooden coaster to have that much g-force is amazing. We went on it right before midnight, and again when the park was almost closing. Oh yeah, and for some insane reason I decided to go on Bigfoot Rapids twice at 12:30am when it was 48 degrees out. The first time we barely got wet, second round I got soaked. Oh well, dried off a little on Ghost Rider. So worth it. I am so going next year.
  • We slept in on Friday, well sort of. The bed at Motel 6 was pretty hard. I wanted to check out the Irvine Spectrum, so we had a late breakfast at a crepe place, then did some shopping. I got a cute sweater at Torrid, coffee at The Coffee Bean, and tried some frozen yogurt at Pinkberry. So good. We also got snacks for the road at Target. Then we headed to Santa Monica to check out the pier. It was pretty fun to look around at the view but honestly Pier 39 has a lot more things to do, more shops, etc. We ate at Bubba Gumps for dinner, I had a cheeseburger and broccoli. Then we headed on back home, and were in Stockton before midnight.
  • I stayed over at Sandi's that night, and we went to breakfast at Mimi's the next morning. Then we got coffee at Peet's, and frozen yogurt at Nubi. I had peppermint egg nog cheesecake with a few toppings, mostly nuts and fruit. So tasty. There's a Nubi in San Leandro at Bayfair, I gotta try that one. Then I drove home, did some housework, hit the gym, then hung out with Dad for the evening. On Sunday I went to church, then went shopping with Cathy. I got new size 16 jeans (YES!!), a cute shirt, and some beauty products. I didn't even use my whole giftcard for Target. I think I'll use the remainder towards groceries this week. How thrilling.

It just never ends

  • What's up y'all? I am SO tired right now. I know I'll be catching the train to sleepytown soon enough. Gonna try to get a nap in here at work since I'll be in a car on the way to L.A. later this morning. I'm not the one driving, but I know I may be too excited to sleep. I shoulda brought some Benadryl and drugged myself. Hahaha.
  • Hmm what's new? Well Dad's been a bit groggy and uncooperative lately, and we've come to the conclusion that it's his Alzheimer's medication. When we took him to the neurologist, he insisted on him continuing the med, plus he wants him to start on Ritalin. He says it calms children but is a stimulant for adults. Is that all doctors enjoy doing? Just drugging everyone up? Michelle and I are at our wits end. Oh yeah, my car got sideswiped today by one of our neighbors around the corner. Fortunately we witnessed it happening and Cathy stopped the lady. I left a message on my agent's voicemail, made a formal claim over the phone to the 800 number, and emailed all the info including pictures to my agent. I think I'm covered. Still sucks though, I don't have a drivers side mirror. Hopefully I can get it fixed next week sometime. Yeah so that's it in a nutshell. I really want to have a good time in L.A. today and tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Had a great holiday this year

  • Late Merry Christmas y'all! Early Happy New Year! I had a pretty cool weekend overall. Made out like a bandit this year on Christmas. Bought myself a new camera using some cash that TJ gave me. Also bought myself a new Sesame Street book that was 50% off, and got a new blender/food processor thing. It's like the Magic Bullet, but a cheaper brand. Made myself a low fat eggnog smoothie earlier this evening, it works. Cathy also gave me The Office seasons 1/2, which I've been watching. Actually the best present I received this year was my dad's health. I was so afraid he'd be in the hospital on Christmas. Our family has had that curse for generations. My grandfather and late uncle always seemed to be sick around the holidays as well.
  • The rest of my weekend was fun too, although tiring. Saturday I seemed to be on my feet the whole day. My dad's cat Johnny passed away late Friday night, so I had to take Dad and Michelle to the vet hospital to drop off his body to be cremated. Then Davina and I went to lunch, did some shopping, and hit the gym together. I had enough time after that to go home and make dinner, and wrap Cathy's bday presents. Then I had to take Michelle and Dad out to do more shopping. Then I finally got back home and maybe hung out an hour before I accompanied Cathy on her late night grocery run. So yeah, busy Lisa. Sunday wasn't so bad. I got up and went to church, then to the gym, then spent the afternoon/evening lounging at home. Even managed to take a nap. Feels so good to relax for a change.

Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Word up y'all! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! I'm here at work and it's almost 2am. I'm still sipping on the remnants of my eggnog milkshake I got earlier. Thought I'd treat myself for the holiday. I'm trying very hard not to gain weight, that's my goal. Not worrying about losing, just concerned about gaining. I know I can do it if I avoid most of the cookies Cathy made. Oh well.
  • The holiday has been great so far. Dad and Michelle came over earlier tonight, then we went to my Uncle Jim's house. It was great to see my cousins and their kids. I love spending time with my family. Dad and Michelle are coming over again this afternoon for a while. We're gonna have a nice Christmas dinner with ham, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. Yum. I'm working a 5 hour shift here in the evening, covering for one of the part-timers. In return she's covering part of my New Year's Eve shift, so it's an even trade. Oh well. Still, an awesome time to be had. Merry Christmas everyone!
