Great weekend, learned a lot

  • What's up folks? Back from my uber long and fun weekend. I hope this writing is somewhat coherant, because I'm exhausted. I've been up about 18 hrs now and I won't be in bed for another six. I may catnap soon. Shoot I may catnap in midblog and just come back to it. Anyway, on Thursday I hung out with Kimmie at the Grape Festival in Lodi. Beforehand we met at Mountain Mike's for lunch and did a little browsing at Kmart, then walked a mile to the festival grounds. I really enjoy coming every year. It's basically like a county fair. Clowns, halls with random exhibits/booths, and lots of yummy foods that I usually try to avoid at all costs. I was bad and had a corn dog, roasted corn on the cob and a banana milkshake. So freakin good, but oh so bad for me. Later on in the evening at her house we watched House starring William Katt (from Greatest American Hero) then The Watcher In The Woods starring a very old Bette Davis and the chick from Ice Castles. Cheesy movies, but awesome.
  • Friday afternoon I headed on over to Sandi's place to meet for her church's houseboat trip on Lake Melones near Angels Camp. We carpooled in her vehicle, and got there after only a few hours. Now I won't go into minute detail on EVERYTHING we did at the retreat, but I'll tell you the important facts. I was a little apprehensive about this retreat because of the large amounts of water activities, and I am NOT a swimmer. Not only that, I didn't know anyone at all except Sandi. I thought I'd be bored to death by myself. Surprisingly I wasn't bored, and went out on a boat several times while others went tubing, wakeboarding or waterskiiing. The people in Sandi's post college group are really great. They made me feel like part of the family right away, and didn't seem fake. So many church groups have cliques galore, and make a newcomer feel like an outsider. Every single person was friendly and introduced themselves. No bad attitudes, no exclusions. True Christians. Oh yeah, the small group time was really enlightening. I learned a lot about grace in Luke 15, especially in the parable about the two brothers. I related a lot more with the younger screwed up one who is welcomed home by his father although he squandered away his part of the inheritance on hookers. I have backslid several times. Each time God goes "No way lady, I'm not letting you go, no matter what you do" then picks me back up off the ground. It's a good feeling knowing God won't let me get too far from Him.
  • So yeah, that was my weekend in a nutshell. After we left for home, we stopped for pizza in Angels Camp with a few people, then drove back to Stockton. Then I had my nice hour long drive back to San Lorenzo. Oh well. By the time I got home I was exhausted. I unpacked, put away clean laundry I had washed right before I left, and took a nice hot shower. After going without hot showers for two days, it felt great. Being stinky is no fun. Also, my cat Spencer missed me and spent most of his weekend in Cathy/TJ's room. Now he's probably on my bed, waiting for me to get home from work. I'll tell you one thing, when I get home in the morning, I'll be passed out within seconds of hitting the pillow.
