lisa's awesome weekend

  • Hey Momma. Boy did I have an exciting weekend. Let me sum it up for ya. I'll try my best to do some good recaps and I hope I don't miss much. I should have blogged earlier on but I was exhausted so I kinda half dozed for a little over an hour. Well I tried to, but I had two phone calls and *Linda* coming in convinced that we had a burglar downstairs and it was really Zack from programming. Okay anyway, here goes.
  • Friday afternoon I worked a half shift here until 7pm. I really need the OT badly so I didn't mind. Then I went home for a bit and grabbed all my Corey Feldman DVDs/VHS tapes to take the Goonies screening. Fernando had texted while I was at work and invited me over for tacos, so I came over. We hung out, and played liars dice with Grace and Mary. Then Tony came over too, and we talked about our various relationship problems. I left Fernando's house a little after 9 and went to pick up Stuart, my date. Some of you know him as my "husband". We call him that because one of my parents' neighbors at my mom's viewing thought he was my husband. She mistook him for my ex boyfriend. LMAO Moving on, I picked up Stu and we went to Castro Valley Cinemar or whatever it's called. It took a while to get everyone in and seated, and eventually Corey showed. Boy is he awesome. He did a little Q and A, then we all went up row by row to meet him and get autographs. Due to time constraints the theater management said he could only sign one thing and no posing for pictures. So I gave Stuart my copy of the Goonies and I had him sign Stand By Me. This movie means a lot to me since it was one of my mom's favorites. When we got up there, I was nervous but surprisingly did not lose my ability to talk. We snuck a pic together and he even squeezed my hand. He seemed nice. Genuinely nice, not fake nice. It was so cool of him to come to Castro Valley and make an appearance like that. He said during the Q and A that he came because he supports small businesses and that the theater is fighting hard against cineplexes, stuff like that. If I find a video on Youtube maybe I'll post it in the Mandy's blog, I'm doing one a little more detailed later on. I'm sure someone taped it. Overall, it was a great experience meeting Corey for those glorious 30 seconds or so.
  • Saturday was a great day as well. You know everyday on earth is a great day, if you think about it. Enough waxing philosophical. I worked that morning, like I do almost every Saturday. Then I went back home for an hour or so to freshen up and upload Corey pics onto Myspace. Big shocker, huh? Then a little before 4 I went to Davina's house. Jennifer and Kristin were already there. Then the "party van" as I call it went and picked up Ana, Valeria, and then Lorie. We drove to San Francisco, and boy California Street is steep. I hate stop signs/stoplights when you are stopped and when you take your foot off the brake to go you still roll backwards, even in an automatic. I had my foot on the imaginary brake the whole time, Kristin thought it was hilarious. So we went on this "vampire tour" on Nob Hill. I thought it was okay, but personally I don't think it was worth as much as Davina paid for it. It was educational, but most of our 2 hours were spent freezing our butts off in various locales while the goth lady with a candelabra told us about the history of various buildings and the relation to some local vampires. I give her props for memorizing that much of a script though. We did go inside the Fairmont Hotel for about 10 minutes or so. Most of that time was spent in the potty since some of us had to pee. I wish we had visited the inside of more of these places instead of just hearing about them. That's just my two cents though. It was fun and I'm glad Davina invited all of us to go. After that we had dinner at the Nob Hill Cafe, then we drove over to the Mission District for organic ice cream. I forgot the name of the place we went to, it was right by Mission High School. Yummy. Then we drove back to San Leandro, and called it a night since everyone was so pooped.
  • Sunday I missed out on church but I had a great excuse. I went to the A's/Giants game at AT&T Park in San Fran with Sandi. We met at San Leandro BART and took the train to San Fran, then caught the Muni down there. The seats were awesome. The snooty couple on the other side of me were not so awesome. They were dressed like it was a business lunch, not a ballgame. The guy was remarking about how the American League sucks, blah blah blah. Eventually they left to go find "decent Asian cuisine" and never came back. Good for them. It's like dude this is a ballpark, not Rodeo Drive. Rich people make me wanna barf. I was being as obnoxious as possible and even farted a few times. Maybe they were overcome by the fumes. I hope that's what did the trick. The A's scored like 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning, and we decided to go walk around after the 7th inning stretch. We found the giant Coke bottle slide, and of course slid down it. Then we found the lovely cable car and took pics on that too. So touristy. After the game we walked up 3rd street and I showed Sandi where KDFC was. I took her on a tour of that station, as well as 95.7 The Wolf and KOIT. It was fun. Then we walked back towards The Embarcadero and caught a streetcar to Pier 39. I hadn't been there in ages. Our driver was pretty entertaining. Some guy broke the fair box so she just let everyone on board and kept yelling about how "That guy in the back broke the fair box, just get on!! Hurry up, blame him!" Anyway, we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Not as expensive as it could have been, and they subbed out my fries for broccoli. I had a pulled pork sandwich. Yum. Oh yeah, I had a meatball sub at the ballgame. Not too good for me, but hey I ate an apple I had brought from home. So ooooh. Okay so after dinner, we did A LOT of walking around. I was good and didn't spend extra dough, only on a Nutella crepe for dessert. It was awesome. I took lots of video though, as you'll see at the end of this blog. It's a compilation of the whole weekend. I had a great time, but boy am I pooped out.

3/30 weekend fun
